Algarve Villas August 18, 2009
Posted in : Travel Parlor , trackbackThe Algarve is the southernmost province of Portugal. It is also one of Portugal’s most varied and picturesque regions. You will find that Algarve Villas reflect the diversity of the region itself.
The northern section of the Algarve is hilly and fertile. This is where you will find lush groves of orange, fig and almond trees. Algarve villas can be found in the popular towns of Aljezur and Monchique. Some are within easy walking distance of the towns, while others are nestled among the groves. Rental prices per week for Algarve villas in this region range from around 300 euros for a 2-bedroom property with swimming pool, to 700 euros for a larger home accommodating 8 guests.
As you head further south in the Algarve, hills and woodlands give way to craggy cliffs and serene beaches. Algarve is known for its Moorish influence and much of the architecture along the coastline is of Moorish design. Some of that influence can be seen in the style of Algarve villas in this region. If you’re looking to rent a villa along the southern coast, Faro, the regional capital, is a good place to search. Besides being an attractive and historic coastal town, Faro is also home to southern Portugal’s main airport. Rental prices in the Faro area range from 400 euro for a villa that sleeps 5, to 1500 euro for luxury homes that can accommodate up to 8 guests.
The best times to visit the Algarve are in the late spring and early fall. Good deals can be found on Algarve villas during these seasons, and the Mediterranean climate allows for warm days and cool nights. However, whichever time of year you choose to go, you will find the Algarve one of southern Europe’s most charming and unspoiled coastal regions.
