VoIP essentially turns telephone calls into just another piece of software running over an IP network, and due to this simplicity the future for VoIP seems pregnant with possibilites.
Ever since Skype introduced software for voice calls on computers the industry has been buzzing. Google has entered the internet telephony industry with an IM and voice application and is testing a wireless consumer service that has the potential to deliver data to wireless devices.
The technology companies are already starting to launch dual purpose products such as cameras which appear standard but when a person slides the back of the camera down, there’s a keypad for making calls. Memory sticks preloaded with a softphone are also now available. They come with a microphone and earphones.
Companies such as Google, Yahoo, and EarthLink have already experimented with this technology. Last summer Yahoo added improved Voice over IP calling to its its instant messenger program. Google has also released Google Talk. AOL announced it would be providing a VoIP service called TotalTalk. AOL’s TotalTalk will essentially let people replace their traditional landlines. It has advanced communication features, such as unified voice, e-mail and instant messaging, and call-management.

These were the laptop computers you constantly thought of but were out of your reach. They were like the supreme example of what could be done with laptop technology. The best laptop computers on offer. Regardless of whether that was true I think the prices were so high that we would buy laptops that were not so good instead. As larger companies see the opening in the gaming laptop market, everything looks to have transformed.
In my point of view they would get off by retailing them at a greater price if they wanted. It is a great chance for them to get back gross markup as the markup on consumer laptop computers are so small nowadays. International companies would surely find it easier to get us to buy these laptop computers. What can small system builders possibly do if their prices are undercut? In my opinion the tier 1 manufacturers will command the market trends. In my opinion if anybodies decided to spend a lot of cash the brand name always comes out on top.
I reckon its unfair that as it comes with the brand name they’re seamlessly perceived as the best laptop computers. This is no doubt the main unique sales proposition left for the littler guys. Being able to buy exactly what parts they desire is a big factor for the majority potential buyers who are thinking of buying a gaming laptop. These kinds of people broadly speaking are well informed on the technology and will compare spec for spec. In comparing power and looks, these purchasers typically choose the former.

So massive demand but minute supply according to what manufacturers are expecting. Many have forcasted laptop computers to be in demand but its amazing that theres been no give. The incredible thing is that even when you get the latest thing out it’ll sooner or later be out of date.
There seems to be a lot more variation and availability of gaming laptops these days. These laptops are also increasing in value because of the tough competition faced from value laptops. Gaming laptops are no longer jeered by serious game players because they are actually pretty good. More positives to come from evolved manufacturing processes is tiny, cooler parts that give way for thinner, pleasing designs. Ok so there remains a difference in speed no matter how advanced gaming laptops have become but that should always exist. I would not give it too long before we see ultra mobile gaming laptops on the market.
Even though the market share is controlled by manufacturers selling via retail channels I feel the direct channel and custom built laptops will always be here. With custom built laptops you commonly get to find what make of parts is going into the laptop. It just gives the buyer greater options at the end of the day. MCSE Certification – Better Than Novell? June 14, 2008

To start with, the arguments as to which networking software is actually better will no doubt go on for as long as these two companies are in business. The purpose of this article in not to determine which system is better. The purpose is to point out the differences between the two in relation to how easy or hard it will be to get a certification and hold a job.
The first glaring difference between a Novell certification and an MCSE certification is the intensity of the courses required for each certification. As was pointed out in an earlier article, to get an MCSE one has to take seven exams, five core exams and two electives. The courses for these exams are long and difficult. The length of time, obviously, to get an MCSE is astronomical. On the other hand to get a Novell CNE certification requires only five exams. Two less exams may not seem like much but considering each course can take you months you’re talking about taking about a half a year off your training time. So this needs to be considered when choosing between the two.
The next thing you need to take into consideration is the operating system itself. Because an MCSE is a windows based certification and Microsoft Windows is pretty much the most popular operating system on the market, that means you will have more software written by third party vendors made especially for windows products. So getting an MCSE will make your life a lot easier in the actual work environment because you will not be dealing with as many compatibility issues as you will if you become a Novell CNE and end up working with NetWare. Suffice it to say, your life will be far from easy when it comes to making things work.
Then there are the exams themselves. Naturally everyone will have their own opinion on this but the general consensus is that the Microsoft Exams are easier because they are dealing with operating systems that we are already more familiar with because of our everyday working knowledge of Windows. Novell NetWare is not as intuitive and most say that it requires more “learning” than Microsoft.
Then there is the issue of getting your job. The truth of the matter is, more people use Microsoft products, not so much because they are better but because of the tight hold they have on the market. So getting a job with an MCSE is going to be a lot easier than getting a job with a Novell CNE. The main reason for the dominance of Microsoft networking versus Novell is because of the file and printing services which have always been a problem with Novell.
If you are looking for perfection in either case you have got a long wait. Both networking systems have their pluses and minuses. As a networking professional one needs to decide what is most important when choosing which direction to take, ease of use or ease of passing your exam.

Enceladus Visited – Cassini Uncovers Numerous Surprises June 6, 2008
Posted in : Technology Management , comments closedThe Cassini-Huygens exploration of Saturn, a seven-year joint venture of NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Italian Space Agency, is realizing more surprising discoveries. The Cassini space probe achieved its closest approach of any Saturn moon with a 109 mile orbit of one of the most innermost moons of Saturn, Enceladus on November 26, 2005.
Enceladus is a small moon of 314 miles across that is so bright it reflects nearly one hundred percent of its heat. For this reason, it is a very cold moon, with a temperature of minus 330 degrees Fahrenheit. Its orbit is influenced under the large gravitational pull of Saturn as well as the gravitational influence of large nearby moons Tethys and Dione. Previous voyages by Voyager as well as Cassini have shown it to have at least five different geological terrains across its small surface.
What was discovered that makes Enceladus so unique for such a cold moon is that unlike nearby moon Mimas, which is basically a completely dead moon, Enceladus is currently geologically active. An emission of water vapor and minute ice particles from its south pole from some sort of internal heat source on Enceladus has been confirmed. The cause of the tremendous heat source that must be present to heat the ice of such a cold moon to emit such a plume of ice and water vapor into the atmosphere is unkown. On its nearest approach to Enceladus of 109 miles, Cassini was able to use infrared detection to prove the existence of this column of ice into the atmosphere and beyond.
Saturn’s E ring is the broadest and faintest of any of Saturn’s rings. It is composed of fine ice particles of 2.9 microns in average size. The average size of Cassini’s emissions is 10 microns. The tiniest particles escaping from Enceladus are the source of the composition of Saturn’s E ring. This was a major discovery in itself.
Cassini confirmed that the heat sources are coming from geological phenomena known as the tiger stripes of Enceladus. The tiger stripes are parallel fissures running down the planet approximately eighty miles long and separated by twenty-five miles on average. They seem to be extremely geologically young being of between 10 and 1000 years old. At their southern end Cassini detected the large emanations of heat that are responsible for the ice particle ejections.
The cause of the internal heating remains the big mystery. It is surmised that it is due to tidal activity or possibly radioactive phenomena. This riddle regarding Enceladus is not yet understood as of today. Enceladus is one of the rare geologically active moons found so far in the solar system along with Jupiter’s Io and Neptune’s moon Triton.
More light will be shed on Enceladus in March of 2008 when Cassini revisits Enceladus.
