Compatibility Made to Be Great May 21, 2009

Nobody can say I’m pleasantly happy being bored with most men (who isn’t?) and not be lying. But, I’m not unhappy about it, either. I only suggest it here as an intriguing piece of info introducing what I am about to explain in grand style.

A week ago today yours truly was walking the dog, Stacey, thinking of joining the Phoenix Great Expectations dating service. You prolly couldn’t guess that, I stand to you as a happy member of the dating service. Totally, it’s true. I like it! If you know me at all, perhaps you’re thinkin’, “Stop blabbering and tell me about it already.”

Here’s how it went down, I saw this Great Expectations Dating site and felt encouraged. They’re for the honest singles who think dating isn’t a game.

‘Cause I’d never been too big on what a lot of singles have named “dating.” I faced it all the time. Every night friends nagg, “Are you seeing somebody?” and “You should date!”

“Ugh, and double ugh.” I reply, without missing a beat. “Not after that last blind date you set me up on.”

“Don’t be silly,” they deadpan. “You have no way to know that!”

That’s just my partner in crime The One-And-Only (hehe) Sandy McCarthy. She beams rational thought to my brain 99% of the time. Loved ones are always there to offer perspective. She made a good point, so I signed up.

Back to the theme of this post. As I browsed from hundreds of combinations of outfits for my first Great Expectations date, something occurred to me that was quite deep. For the longest time, I hadn’t held any emotional great expectations for dating in the serendipitous journey of being alive. Being single isn’t so bad, even more so when you get out there and have fun. Having great expectations makes a difference on a cynics social life.
