Deputy dog Sandbag is not the only mutt to be allowed the great acknowledgement he merited for his hard contributions. Dogs might well also prove of great value within police force operations. They save essential time looking for displaced persons, drugs & contraband. Rigorous training means that police force pups might not recognise any possibly precarious devices but will rather demonstrate where it is likely to be to his human companion.
As bounty for all their hard work police dogs in Cambridgeshire a short time ago were the first within Great britain to gain the correct pension merited after their time off. Before canines working for the Cambridgeshire constabulary retired as the guys aged, at which time the dog’s trainer would sign a form evidencing that he would have to infer care for the canine for the balance of his life. This new programme means that retired pups will now have their food, vets charges and housing paid for by the police force.
And so there we have it, the highly comforting work these eager pooches do brings a completely new level of meaning to the phrase ‘man’s best friend’. So thank goodness that there are kind individuals out there who are willing to provide hard-earned repose and support for our four-legged friends when they are put out to pasture.
